To
have some fun at Christmas
Materials
Required
Twenty
cards with Christmas words on them in English AND Chinese1
(My
words are lantern, candle, reindeer, gift, Christmas tree, Christmas
card, Christmas cake, turkey, Santa, snow, sleigh, stocking/sock,
snowman, robin, holly, star, toys, bells, decorations, cracker)
A
decorated waste paper bin (small) or bucket.
A
ball to throw
Preparation
Prepare
all materials.
At
front of class place the decorated bin onto a chair (firmly) at one
side of room.
Procedure
1
Get
a student to come and look at a card.
Student
draws the picture.
Other
students guess.
The
student to guess correctly comes and draws another picture..
As
pictures are guessed add the words to a list at the side of the
board.
Stop
when all words guessed or after ten minutes.

Divide
into groups of four.

Give
instructions to class and write on board.
Each
group choose four words from list.
Write
sentences using each word.
Write
the group numbers on the board to keep score.

Minutes)
4
When
groups have finished, take groups in turn.
A
student stands up and reads a sentence.
If
it is OK proceed to next step.
If
there are any grammar mistakes ask other groups to repeat and fix.2
Proceed
to next step with first group to give the sentence correctly.
If
no group gets it right correct it on the board and let the group that
gave it do the next step.

Correct
group sends someone to front.
Student
standson oppoisite side of room and throws the ball into the bucket.
(I.
going to get a Santa hat for the student throwing to wear.)
If
he gets it, give five points on scoreboard.
If
he misses, give two points.
6
Repeat
until all groups have had a go.
7
Tying
groups then compete with a second sentence.
If
still tied use a third and fourth sentence.
