Lesson Title:     We’re all going on a Summer holiday

Grammar and Vocabulary

 Words connected to Summer.

Lesson Objectives

This is the final lesson before the Summer break.

Students will practice vocabulary of Summer.

Students will use song to practice pronunciation.

Materials Required

Recording of Summer Holiday (Cliff Richard) and means to play it.

Enough copies of lyrics to share (one copy per two students)

Pictures of various summer activities (playing card sized)

building a sand castle, sunbathing, basketball, climbing a mountain,

beach ball, going for a walk, visiting the zoo, reading, watching a movie,

skating, riding a roller coaster, boating, swimming, playing ping-pong,

riding a bike, eating an ice cream

Preparation

Prepare all materials. 

Procedure

1 Introduce topic “Summer Holiday”

Tell class that summer holidays are coming soon and ask for ideas what they will do.

2 Divide class into groups (no more than 8).

Tell groups they have two  minutes to think of words about summer. Tell them they can be things to do, the weather, summer clothes… anything about summer.

3 While they do that divide the board into numbered columns, one for each group.

4. After two minutes get one student from each group to write their words. Mark the answers - two points for a good word, good spelling. One point if the spelling is wrong. (Be generous. It’s the last lesson.)

5 Tell class we will now practice a song.

   First play the song for class to listen to.

   Ask If they liked it.

6 Hand out the lyric sheets.

Practice a line at a time with the class but without the music,

Sing song accompanied by music.

7 Play charades with the pictures on the cards.
