Lesson Title:     We’re all going on a Summer holiday

Grammar and Vocabulary

 Words connected to Summer.

Lesson Objectives

This is the final lesson before the Summer break.

Students will practice vocabulary of Summer.

Students will use song to practice pronunciation.

Students will be able to discuss their plans for summer.

Materials Required

Recording of Summer Holiday (Cliff Richard) and means to play it.

Enough copies of lyrics to share (one copy per two students)

Word Search Poster

String and magnets for use on poster. 

Preparation

Prepare all materials. 

Procedure

1 Introduce topic “Summer Holiday”

Tell class that summer holidays are coming soon and ask for ideas what they will do.

2 Divide class into groups (no more than 12).

Explain the following task

There will be a word search.

They have one minute to look at it.

After one minute someone from the first group will come to board,

take one piece of string and two magnets and use the string and

magnets to mark one of the words

Write the words on the board.

Add the poster.

Give students a minute to study.

3 Get a student from each group in turn to find a word. Each group has only thirty seconds. If after all groups have had a go there are words unfound ask for volunteers from class.

4 Tell class we will now practice a song.

   First play the song for class to listen to.

   Ask If they liked it.

5. Hand out the lyric sheets.

Practice a line at a time with the class but without the music,

Sing song accompanied by music.

6 Tell class to discuss the following questions. (Write on board)

You can go ANYWHERE for your summer holiday.

Where would  you like to go?

Why?

How would you get there?

How long would you stay?

What would you do there?

Who would you go with?

7 Monitor and assist the discussions.

8 Get individual groups to feedback.
